Southridge's softball team needed a spark to prevent its season from going downhill. After losing five games in a row prior to the tournament, senior pitcher Sarah Levern helped the Spartans get back on track by winning the championship of the White bracket of the Mercy Hospital SlamFest tournament Saturday at Palmetto Bay Park.

The South Miami boys' tennis team earned a 6-1 victory Monday afternoon against Coral Reef to improve its record to 6-0. Oscar Martin won his No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-3. Micah Bailey won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, and Tommy Brennan and Grover Ordonez won their No. 1 doubles match 8-6.
